Disney | ABC Domestic Television (DADT)


Disney/ABC Domestic Television (DADT) is the in-home sales and content distribution arm for The Walt Disney Company within North America. The division is responsible for sales and customer management of in-home entertainment content, distributing motion picture and television properties from Disney, Pixar, Marvel, DreamWorks Studios, ABC Studios, ABC Entertainment, ABC Family and Disney Channel across a wide array of media platforms and businesses.

Media Content

DADT is responsible for distributing television programming from The Walt Disney Company, providing first-run and off-network content across multiple outlets and platforms.

Digital

DADT strategically pursues digital licensing opportunities for select television inventory including electronic sell-through (iTunes, PlayStation, Xbox, Amazon Video on Demand) and video-on-demand (iTunes, Time Warner). The division recently brokered a second licensing agreement with the subscription-based service Netflix, providing select series and made-for-television movies for their members tostream over the internet.

First-Run Syndication

DADT’s first-run lineup includes “LIVE! with Kelly and Michael” and “Who Wants To Be A Millionaire.” Ratings powerhouse”LIVE! with Kelly and Michael” continues to dominate daytime talk. The hit game show “Who Wants To Be A Millionaire” implemented exciting and dramatic format changes to its 9th season. The high-stakes quizzer is hosted by Emmy award-winner Meredith Vieira.

Off-network Syndication and Basic Cable

Among DADT’s recent high-profile cable sales are the popular primetime reality shows “Supernanny” and “Wife Swap,” and the groundbreaking comedy series “Ugly Betty.” The division also recently launched the popular medical drama “Grey’s Anatomy,” and the compelling series “Brothers & Sisters” in broadcast syndication.

Canada

In addition to licensing feature films, DADT’s also provides extensive amount of television programming throughout the entire country. The division oversees the Canadian rights to all television content produced by The Walt Disney Company across multiple broadcasters and platforms. “Dancing with the Stars,” “The Amazing Race,” “Cougar Town,” “Castle,” “The View,” “Jimmy Kimmel,” “20/20” “Wipeout,” “The Secret Life of the American Teenager,” “The Suite Life on Deck,” and “Phineas and Ferb” are just a few of the company’s hit programs that are currently licensed to Canadian broadcasters.

Studio Content

DADT is also responsible for the distribution and licensing of the studio’s current motion picture releases and library titles across all windows following their theatrical release.

Video/Retail

DADT manages all sales, distribution, trade marketing and retail marketing on the video/retail front. The division’s North American sales and customer service teams manage accounts with over 80 retailers and 57,000 stores including Wal-Mart, Target and Best Buy.

Electronic Sell-Through/Video-on-Demand/Subscription Video-on-Demand

The division licenses electronic sell-through rights to a spectrum of new media clients and gaming consoles including Apple’s iTunes, Microsoft’s Xbox and Sony’s PlayStation. DADT also negotiates key video-on-demand deals with a wide range of distributors including MVPDs (cable, satellite TV, telcos) and digital and mobile platforms. DADT launched the studio’s new entertainment service, Disney Family Movies, which is distributed nationally by content providers including Comcast, Time Warner, Charter, Cox, AT&T U-Verse, and Verizon/FiOS.

Pay Television

DADT licenses its films in pay television to Starz and has an exclusive output agreement with Showtime to provide theatrical releases produced by DreamWorks Studios.

Basic Cable and Broadcast Television

DADT also licenses its feature films and top-notch movie packages to basic cable and broadcast television. Recent high-profile salesinclude the box-office blockbusters “TRON: Legacy” and “Alice in Wonderland,” as well as “Toy Story 3,” the highest-grossing animated film of all time.
