‘World News Tonight With David Muir’ Is #1 Newscast on All of U.S. Television, Ranking #1 in Total Viewers, Adults 25–54 and Adults 18–49

“World News Tonight with David Muir” ranked as the No. 1 newscast on all of broadcast and cable in Total Viewers (7.433 million), Adults 25-54 (1.043 million) and Adults 18-49 (706,000) during the week of April 8, 2024, based on Live + Same Day Data from Nielsen Media Research. “World News Tonight” outdelivered “NBC Nightly News” (6.072 million, 831,000 and 553,000, respectively) by 1.361 million Total Viewers, by 212,000 Adults 25-54 and by 153,000 Adults 18-49, respectively.

“World News Tonight” widened its lead on the same week last year over the NBC program in Total Viewers (+11% – 1.361 million vs. 1.226 million) and Adults 25-54 (+33% – 212,000 vs. 160,000).

“World News Tonight” has won the last 280 of 281 weeks in Total Viewers and 207 of the last 211 in adults 25-54.

“World News Tonight with David Muir” stood as the No. 3 program of the week in Total Viewers (7.433 million) on all of broadcast and cable (excluding sports).

Season to date, “World News Tonight” (7.978 million) is ranking No. 1 in Total Viewers for the 8th straight year, based on Most Current Data. “World News Tonight” is leading “NBC Nightly News” (6.751 million) by 1.227 million and “CBS Evening News” (4.873 million) by 3.105 million.

“World News Tonight” is ranking No. 1 in Adults 25-54 and Adults 18-49 for the 5th consecutive season. “World News Tonight” is leading NBC in Adults 25-54 (+105,000 – 1.118 million vs. 1.013 million) and in Adults 18-49 (+84,000 – 765,000 vs. 681,000). In addition, “World News Tonight” is leading “CBS Evening News” (703,000 and 477,000, respectively) by 415,000 Adults 25-54 and by 288,000 Adults 18-49.

For the week, “World News Tonight” (7.433 million, 1.043 million and 706,000, respectively) beat “CBS Evening News” (4.530 million, 664,000 and 453,000, respectively) by 2.903 million Total Viewers, by 379,000 Adults 25-54 and by 253,000 Adults 18-49.
