‘World News Tonight’ Is Ranking No. 1 in Total Viewers for the Sixth Consecutive Season and in Both Adults 25-54 and Adults 18-49 for the Third Season in a Row

World News Tonight with David Muirranked as the No. 1 evening newscast in all of broadcast and cable in Total Viewers (8.160 million), Adults 25-54 (1.411 million) and Adults 18-49 (972,000) during the week of Dec. 13, 2021, based on Live + Same Day Data from Nielsen Media Research. 

“World News Tonight” beat “NBC Nightly News” (7.486 million, 1.250 million and 886,000, respectively) by 674,000 Total Viewers, by 161,000 Adults 25-54 and by 86,000 Adults 18-49.  

World News Tonightwas the No. 2 program of the week in Total Viewers (8.160 million) on all of television (excluding sports and syndication).

“World News Tonight” has won the last 159 of 160 weeks in Total Viewers and 88 of the last 90 weeks in Adults 25-54.

Season to date, “World News Tonight” (8.179 million) is ranking No. 1 in Total Viewers for the 6th consecutive year, based on Most Current Data. “World News Tonight” is leading “NBC Nightly News” (7.103 million) by 1.076 million and “CBS Evening News” (5.079 million) by 3.100 million.

 

“World News Tonight” is ranking No. 1 in Adults 25-54 and Adults 18-49 for the 3rd season in a row. “World News Tonight” is surpassing NBC in both Adults 25-54 (+214,000 – 1.477 million vs. 1.263 million) and Adults 18-49 (+117,000 – 999,000 vs. 882,000).

For the week, “World News Tonight” (8.160 million, 1.411 million and 972,000, respectively) defeated “CBS Evening News” (5.090 million, 850,000 and 579,000, respectively) by 3.070 Total Viewers, by 561,000 Adults 25-54 and by 393,000 Adults 18-49.

NOTE: On Monday (Dec. 13), West Coast coverage of “World News Tonight” was impacted due to ABC’s live telecast of “Monday Night Football.”

ABC’s “World News Tonight with David Muir” airs 6:30-7:00 p.m. EST on ABC. Almin Karamehmedovic is the executive producer of the broadcast.
