‘World News Tonight With David Muir’ Is the #1 Newscast Across All Broadcast and Cable in Total Viewers, Adults 25–54 and Adults 18–49, Leading NBC by 1.2 Million and CBS by 3.1 Million Viewers

“World News Tonight with David Muir” stood as the evening’s No. 1 newscast in all of broadcast and cable in Total Viewers (7.927 million), Adults 25-54 (1.397 million) and Adults 18-49 (955,000) during the week of April 4, 2022, based on Live + Same Day Data from Nielsen Media Research, leading “NBC Nightly News” (6.732 million, 1.109 million and 764,000, respectively) by 1.195 million Total Viewers, by 288,000 Adults 25-54 and by 191,000 Adults 18-49. 

 

“World News Tonight” has won the last 175 of 176 weeks in Total Viewers and 104 of the last 106 weeks in Adults 25-54.

 

“World News Tonight” was the No. 2 program of the week in Total Viewers (7.927 million) on all of television (excluding sports and syndication).

 

“World News Tonight” widened its lead over NBC week to week in Adults 25-54 (+6% – 288,000 vs. 271,000) and Adults 18-49 (+16% – 191,000 vs. 164,000), posting its largest news demo lead in 9 weeks — since w/o 1/31/22.

 

Season to date, “World News Tonight” (8.526 million) is ranking No. 1 in Total Viewers for the 6th consecutive year, based on Most Current Data. “World News Tonight” is leading “NBC Nightly News” (7.280 million) by 1.246 million and “CBS Evening News” (5.224 million) by 3.302 million.

 

“World News Tonight” is ranking No. 1 in Adults 25-54 and Adults 18-49 for the 3rd season in a row. “World News Tonight” is surpassing NBC in both Adults 25-54 (+252,000 – 1.572 million vs. 1.320 million) and Adults 18-49 (+143,000 – 1.075 million vs. 932,000).

 

For the week, “World News Tonight” (7.927 million, 1.397 million and 955,000, respectively) outdelivered “CBS Evening News” (4.782 million, 787,000 and 556,000, respectively) by 3.145 Total Viewers, by 610,000 Adults 25-54, and by 399,000 Adults 18-49.  

 

ABC’s “World News Tonight with David Muir” airs 6:30-7:00 p.m. EDT on ABC. Almin Karamehmedovic is the senior executive producer of the broadcast.
