‘World News Tonight With David Muir’ Is No. 1 Program on All of Television in Total Viewers and Adults 25–54 – Most-Watched Program Across Broadcast and Cable for 12th Consecutive Week

World News Tonight with David Muirfinished as the No. 1 program of the week in Total Viewers (7.325 million) and Adults 25-54 (1.238 million) on all of television during the week of June 27, 2022, based on Live + Same Day Data from Nielsen Media Research. “World News Tonight” has ranked as the week’s No. 1 program for the 12th week in a row (excluding sports).

 

“World News Tonight” was the No. 1 evening newscast in all of broadcast and cable in Total Viewers (7.325 million), Adults 25-54 (1.238 million) and Adults 18-49 (807,000), leading “NBC Nightly News” (6.192 million, 1.048 million and 706,000, respectively) by 1.133 million Total Viewers, by 190,000 Adults 25-54 and by 101,000 Adults 18-49.

 

“World News Tonight” has won the last 187 of 188 weeks in Total Viewers and 116 of the last 118 weeks in Adults 25-54.

 

“World News Tonight” increased its year-to-year margins over NBC in Total Viewers (+18% – 1.133 million vs. 958,000) and Adults 25-54 (+28% – 190,000 vs. 149,000).

 

“World News Tonight” was up over the previous week in Total Viewers (+1%/+94,000 – 7.325 million vs. 7.231 million).

 

Season to date, “World News Tonight” (8.354 million) is ranking No. 1 in Total Viewers for the 6th consecutive year, based on Most Current Data. “World News Tonight” is leading “NBC Nightly News” (7.038 million) by 1.316 million and “CBS Evening News” (5.050 million) by 3.304 million.

 

“World News Tonight” is ranking No. 1 in Adults 25-54 and Adults 18-49 for the 3rd season in a row. “World News Tonight” is surpassing NBC in both Adults 25-54 (+280,000 – 1.527 million vs. 1.247 million) and Adults 18-49 (+165,000 – 1.043 million vs. 878,000).  In addition, “World News Tonight” is leading “CBS Evening News” (858,000 and 602,000, respectively) by 669,000 Adults 25-54 and by 441,000 Adults 18-49.

For the week, “World News Tonight” (7.325 million, 1.238 million and 807,000, respectively) defeated “CBS Evening News” (4.366 million, 730,000 and 461,000, respectively) by 2.959 Total Viewers, by 508,000 Adults 25-54 and by 346,000 Adults 18-49.

 

NOTE: On Friday (7/1/22) “World News Tonight” was retitled to “WNT-ABC”; “CBS Evening News” was retitled to “CBS Evening Nws,” and NBC Nightly News” was retitled to “NBC Nitely News.” The retitled telecasts are excluded from the weekly and season averages. ABC’s, CBS’ and NBC’s weekly averages are based on four days (Monday-Thursday).

 

ABC’s “World News Tonight with David Muir” airs 6:30-7:00 p.m. EDT on ABC. Almin Karamehmedovic is the senior executive producer of the broadcast.
