‘World News Tonight with David Muir’ is America’s #1 Newscast Across Broadcast and Cable in Total Viewers, Adults 25-54 and Adults 18-49 ― Widening Margins Over NBC in All Key Demos, Up Year To Year in Total Viewers

‘World News Tonight’ Leads NBC by 1.6 Million and CBS by 3.5 Million Viewers

 ‘World News Tonight’ Is #2 Program of the Week on All of Television

‘World News Tonight’ Is Ranking #1 in Total Viewers for the 7th Consecutive Season and Both Adults 25-54 and Adults 18-49 for the 4th Season in a Row

“World News Tonight with David Muir” stood as the No. 1 evening newscast in all of broadcast and cable in Total Viewers (8.834 million), Adults 25-54 (1.448 million) and Adults 18-49 (1.020 million) during the week of Nov. 28, 2022, based on Live + Same Day Data from Nielsen Media Research. “World News Tonight” defeated “NBC Nightly News” (7.272 million, 1.260 million and 860,000, respectively) by 1.562 million Total Viewers, by 188,000 Adults 25-54 and by 160,000 Adults 18-49. 

 

“World News Tonight” widened its margins over the NBC program from the previous week in Total Viewers(+286% + 1.562 million vs. 405,000), Adults 25-54(+20% – 188,000 vs. 157,000) and Adults 18-49 (+191% – 160,000 vs. 55,000). 

 

“World News Tonight” was up in Total Viewers both week to week (+1% – 8.834 million vs. 8.735 million) and year to year (+6% – 8.834 million vs. 8.361 million). 

 

“World News Tonight” was the No. 2 program of the week in Total Viewers (8.834 million) on all of broadcast and cable television (excluding sports). 

 

“World News Tonight” has won the last 209 of 210 weeks in Total Viewers and 138 of the last 140 in Adults 25-54. 

 

Season to date, “World News Tonight” (8.217 million) is ranking No. 1 in Total Viewers for the 7th straight year, based on Most Current Data. “World News Tonight” is leading “NBC Nightly News” (6.953 million) by 1.264 million and “CBS Evening News” (4.913 million) by 3.304 million. In addition, “World News Tonight” is standing as the only evening newscast to grow from the previous season (+1%; vs. 8.146 million). Further, “World News Tonight” is increasing its lead over the NBC program versus its lead at the same point last season by 14% (vs. 1.112 million). 

 

“World News Tonight” is ranking No. 1 in Adults 25-54 and Adults 18-49 for the 4th season in a row. “World News Tonight” is leading NBC in Adults 25-54 (+188,000 – 1.385 million vs. 1.197 million) and in Adults 18-49 (+129,000 – 960,000 vs. 831,000). In addition, “World News Tonight” is leading “CBS Evening News” (806,000 and 533,000, respectively) by 579,000 Adults 25-54 and by 427,000 Adults 18-49. 

 

For the week, “World News Tonight” (8.834 million, 1.448 million and 1.020 million, respectively) beat “CBS Evening News” (5.312 million, 839,000 and 571,000, respectively) by 3.522 Total Viewers, by 609,000 Adults 25-54 and by 449,000 Adults 18-49. 

 

ABC’s “World News Tonight with David Muir” airs 6:30-7:00 p.m. EST on ABC. Almin Karamehmedovic is the senior executive producer of the broadcast.
