‘World News Tonight With David Muir’ Is America’s #1 Newscast Across Broadcast and Cable in All Key Demos — Total Viewers, Adults 25–54 and Adults 18–49

“World News Tonight with David Muir” stood as the No. 1 evening newscast in all of broadcast and cable in Total Viewers (7.942 million), Adults 25-54 (1.354 million) and Adults 18-49 (944,00) during the week of March 14, 2022, based on Live + Same Day Data from Nielsen Media Research, leading “NBC Nightly News” (6.721 million, 1.161 million and 806,000, respectively) by 1.221 million Total Viewers, by 193,000 Adults 25-54 and by 138,000 Adults 18-49.

“World News Tonight” has won the last 172 of 173 weeks in Total Viewers and 101 of the last 103 weeks in Adults 25-54.

“World News Tonight” was the No. 2 program of the week in Total Viewers (7.942 million) on all of television (excluding sports and syndication). 

Season to date, “World News Tonight” (8.560 million) is ranking No. 1 in Total Viewers for the 6th consecutive year, based on Most Current Data. “World News Tonight” is leading “NBC Nightly News” (7.325 million) by 1.235 million and “CBS Evening News” (5.259 million) by 3.301 million.

“World News Tonight” is ranking No. 1 in Adults 25-54 and Adults 18-49 for the 3rd season in a row. “World News Tonight” is surpassing NBC in both Adults 25-54 (+251,000 – 1.582 million vs. 1.331 million) and Adults 18-49 (+140,000 – 1.082 million vs. 942,000).

For the week, “World News Tonight” (7.942 million, 1.354 million and 944,000, respectively) outdelivered “CBS Evening News” (5.026 million, 849,000 and 629,000, respectively) by 2.916 Total Viewers, by 505,000 Adults 25-54 and by 315,000 Adults 18-49.

NOTE: On Thursday (3/17/22) and Friday (3/18/22), “CBS Evening News” was coded as a breakout due to coverage of NCAA Basketball.  The telecasts are excluded from the weekly and season averages.  CBS’ weekly averages are based on three days (Monday-Wednesday).
