‘World News Tonight’ Is Ranking No. 1 in Total Viewers for the 6th Consecutive Season and in Both Adults 25-54 and Adults 18-49 for the 3rd Season in a Row

World News Tonight with David Muirranked as the evening’s No. 1 newscast in all of broadcast and cable in Total Viewers (9.026 million), Adults 25-54 (1.733 million) and Adults 18-49 (1.194 million) during the week of Jan. 10, 2022, based on Live + Same Day Data from Nielsen Media Research.

“World News Tonight” beat “NBC Nightly News” (8.055 million, 1.454 million and 1.044 million, respectively) by 971,000 Total Viewers, by 279,000 Adults 25-54 and by 150,000 Adults 18-49.

“World News Tonight” increased its lead with NBC from the previous week in Adults 25-54 (+12% – 279,000 vs. 250,000) and Adults 18-49 (+26% – 150,000 vs. 119,000).

“World News Tonight” has won the last 162 of 163 weeks in Total Viewers and 92 of the last 94 weeks in Adults 25-54.

World News Tonightwas the No. 2 program of the week in Total Viewers (9.026 million) on all of television (excluding sports and syndication).

On Wednesday (1/12/22), “World News Tonight” saw its largest single-day telecast win over “NBC Nightly News” in Adults 25-54 (+577,000 – 1.924 million vs. 1.347 million) in 21 months – since 4/16/20, based on regular telecasts.

 

Season to date, “World News Tonight” (8.396 million) is ranking No. 1 in Total Viewers for the 6th consecutive year, based on Most Current Data. “World News Tonight” is leading “NBC Nightly News” (7.282 million) by 1.114 million and “CBS Evening News” (5.185 million) by 3.211 million.

“World News Tonight” is ranking No. 1 in Adults 25-54 and Adults 18-49 for the 3rd season in a row. “World News Tonight” is surpassing NBC in both Adults 25-54 (+237,000 – 1.545 million vs. 1.308 million) and Adults 18-49 (+137,000 – 1.059 million vs. 922,000) 

For the week, “World News Tonight” (9.026 million, 1.733 million and 1.194 million, respectively) defeated “CBS Evening News” (5.786 million, 1.031 million and 726,000, respectively) by 3.240 Total Viewers, by 702,000 Adults 25-54 and by 468,000 Adults 18-49.

ABC’s “World News Tonight with David Muir” airs 6:30-7:00 p.m. EST on ABC. Almin Karamehmedovic is the executive producer of the broadcast.
