‘This Week’ Grows Year to Year in Total Viewers and Adults 25-54, Standing as the Only Public Affairs Program to Post Increases

 

For the 2nd Week in a Row, ‘This Week’ Improves on the Previous Week in Total Viewers and Adults 25-54

 

Season to Date, ‘This Week’ Ranks No. 1 in Adults 25-54, Leading CBS’ ‘Face the Nation’ and NBC’s ‘Meet the Press’ and Takes the Top Spot in the Key Adult News Demo for the First Time in 28 Years

 

‘This Week’ Leads NBC’s ‘Meet the Press’ in Total Viewers Season to Date for the First Time in 7 Years and by Its Largest Lead in 25 Years

“This Week with George Stephanopoulos” ranked No. 1 in Adults 25-54 on Sunday, April 17, 2022, based on Live + Same Day Data from Nielsen Media Research, beating both CBS’ “Face the Nation” and NBC’sMeet the Pressfor the 4th time in the last 5 weeks.

 

In addition, “This Week” led “Meet the Press” in Total Viewers.

 

“This Week” saw gains year to year in Total Viewers (+2% – 2.658 million vs. 2.598 million) and Adults 25-54 (+25% – 629,000 vs. 502,000), standing as the only public affairs program to post increases.

 

For the 2nd week in a row, “This Week” improved on the previous week in Total Viewers (+2% – 2.658 million vs. 2.597 million) and Adults 25-54 (+10% – 629,000 vs. 574,000).

 

Season to date, “This Week” is ranking No. 1 in Adults 25-54, leading CBS’ “Face the Nation” and NBC’s “Meet the Press.” In fact, “This Week” is taking the top spot in the key Adult News demo for the first time in 28 years — since the 1993-94 season.  

 

“This Week” is leading NBC’s “Meet the Press” in Total Viewers season to date for the first time in 7 years and by its largest lead in 25 years — since the 2014-2015 and the 1996-1997 seasons, respectively. In addition, “This Week” is cutting its season margin with “Face the Nation” by 13% (304,000 vs. 349,000) to its smallest gap in 12 years — since the 2009-2010 season.

 

NOTE: “This Week with George Stephanopoulos” was retitled to “Week-ABC,” while CBS’ “Face the Nation” and NBC’s “Meet the Press” were coded as specials due to Easter Sunday.  All three telecasts are excluded from the season averages.

 

George Stephanopoulos is anchor, Martha Raddatz is chief global affairs correspondent and co-anchor, and Jonathan Karl is chief Washington correspondent and co-anchor of “This Week.” Dax Tejera is executive producer of the broadcast.
