New ABC News/Ipsos Poll Shows Republicans See Substantial Leads in Voter Trust Among Several Key Sectors: The Economy, Inflation, Gas Prices and Crime

A new ABC News/Ipsos poll released this morning on “This Week with George Stephanopoulos” shows that 36% of Americans trust the GOP when it comes to inflation, compared to 21% who are putting their trust in Democrats.

In the poll conducted by Ipsos for ABC News using Ipsos’ KnowledgePanel®, crime was also a key closing issue for the GOP in the campaign cycle, with 35% of respondents trusting Republicans over the 22% who put their faith in Democrats.

Additional highlights from the ABC News/Ipsos poll include the following:

• 36% of Americans trust Republicans regarding gas prices, compared to 22% who trust Democrats
• 36% of Americans trust Republicans to do a better job with the overall state of the economy, compared to 24% who trust Democrats
• 35% of Americans trust Republicans regarding immigration, compared to 32% who prefer Democrats
• Democrats are leading in voter trust concerning coronavirus, climate change, gun violence and abortion

This ABC News/Ipsos poll was conducted using Ipsos Public Affairs‘ KnowledgePanel Oct. 21-22, 2022, in English and Spanish, among a random national sample of 686 adults. Results have a margin of sampling error of 4.0 points, including the design effect. Partisan divisions are 28-24-41%, Democrats-Republicans-independents.
