“World News Tonight with David Muir” finished as the No. 1 evening newscast in all of broadcast and cable in Total Viewers (8.908 million), Adults 25-54 (1.510 million) and Adults 18-49 (1.046 million) during the week of Nov. 14, 2022, based on Live + Same Day Data from Nielsen Media Research. “World News Tonight” outdelivered “NBC Nightly News” (7.259 million, 1.233 million and 848,000, respectively) by 1.649 million Total Viewers, by 277,000 Adults 25-54 and by 198,000 Adults 18-49.

“World News Tonight” increased its lead over the NBC program from the previous week in Total Viewers (+1% + 1.649 million vs. 1.626 million), Adults 25-54 (+15% – 277,000 vs. 241,000) and Adults 18-49 (+47% – 198,000 vs. 135,000), turning in its largest Total Viewer lead in 9 months since w/o 2/14/22.

“World News Tonight” widened its year-to-year margins over “NBC Nightly News” in Total Viewers (+53% + 1.649 million vs. 1.078 million), Adults 25-54 (+25% – 277,000 vs. 222,000) and Adults 18-49 (+160% – 198,000 vs. 74,000).

“World News Tonight” turned in gains on the previous week in Total Viewers (+5%/+449,000 – 8.908 million vs. 8.459 million), Adults 25-54 (+3%/46,000 – 1.510 million vs. 1.464 million) and Adults 18-49 (+3%/46,000 – 1.046 million vs. 1.012 million) to hit season highs across the board.  In fact, “World News Tonight” drew its largest overall audience since February and delivered its best key Adult performances since March – since weeks of 2/21/22, 3/28/22 and 3/7/22, respectively.

“World News Tonight” improved on the same week last year in Total Viewers (+8%/+624,000 – 8.908 million vs. 8.284 million), Adults 25-54 (+4%/53,000 – 1.510 million vs. 1.457 million) and Adults 18-49 (+10%/94,000 – 1.046 million vs. 952,000).

Further, “World News Tonight” stood as the only evening newscast to post increases week to week and year to year in all key target demos.

On Monday (11/14/22), featuring David Muir’s exclusive interview with former Vice President Mike Pence, “World News Tonight,” turned in its most-watched telecast (9.191 million) in 8 months — since 3/8/22. On Tuesday (11/15/22), “World News Tonight” scored its best single-day delivery in Adults 25-54 (1.623 million) in nearly 8 months – since 3/29/22.

“World News Tonight” was the No. 2 program of the week in Total Viewers (8.908 million) on all of broadcast and cable television (excluding sports).

“World News Tonight” has won the last 207 of 208 weeks in Total Viewers and 136 of the last 138 in Adults 25-54.

Season to date, “World News Tonight” (8.098 million) is ranking No. 1 in Total Viewers for the 7th straight year, based on Most Current Data. “World News Tonight” is leading “NBC Nightly News” (6.807 million) by 1.291 million and “CBS Evening News” (4.847 million) by 3.251 million. In addition, “World News Tonight” is increasing its lead over the NBC program versus its lead at the same point last season by 6% (vs. 1.223 million).

“World News Tonight” is ranking No. 1 in Adults 25-54 and Adults 18-49 for the 4th season in a row. “World News Tonight” is leading NBC in Adults 25-54 (+194,000 – 1.365 million vs. 1.171 million) and in Adults 18-49 (+134,000 – 947,000 vs. 813,000). In addition, “World News Tonight” is leading “CBS Evening News” (801,000 and 527,000, respectively) by 564,000 Adults 25-54 and by 420,000 Adults 18-49.

For the week, “World News Tonight” (8.908 million, 1.510 million and 1.046, respectively) defeated “CBS Evening News” (5.315 million, 838,000 and 552,000, respectively) by 3.593 Total Viewers, by 672,000 Adults 25-54 and by 494,000 Adults 18-49.

ABC’s “World News Tonight with David Muir” airs 6:30-7:00 p.m. EST on ABC. Almin Karamehmedovic is the senior executive producer of the broadcast.
