For the 3rd straight week, ABC News’ “World News Tonight with David Muir” ranked as the No. 1 program on all broadcast and cable television in the U.S. in Total Viewers (8.907 million) during the week of March 7, 2022, based on Live + Same Day Data from Nielsen Media Research.
“World News Tonight” (8.907 million, 1.667 million and 1.147 million, respectively) stood as the evening’s No. 1 newscast across all of broadcast and cable across the board, beating “NBC Nightly News” (7.293 million, 1.389 million and 952,000, respectively) by 1.614 million Total Viewers, by 278,000 Adults 25-54 and by 165,000 Adults 18-49.
“World News Tonight” increased its lead over NBC week to week in Total Viewers (+16% – 1.614 million vs. 1.397 million), Adults 25-54 (+2% – 278,000 vs. 273,000) and Adults 18-49 (+18% – 165,000 vs. 140,000).
“World News Tonight” posted gains over the previous week in Total Viewers (+1%/+129,000 – 8.907 million vs. 8.778 million), Adults 25-54 (+3%/+42,000 – 1.667 million vs. 1.625 million) and Adults 18-49 (+3%/+28,000 – 1.147 million vs. 1.119 million).
On Monday, March 7, David Muir’s exclusive interview with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy was seen by 9.015 million viewers.
“World News Tonight” has won the last 171 of 172 weeks in Total Viewers and 100 of the last 102 weeks in Adults 25-54.
Season to date, “World News Tonight” (8.583 million) is ranking No. 1 in Total Viewers for the 6th consecutive year, based on Most Current Data. “World News Tonight” is leading “NBC Nightly News” (7.349 million) by 1.234 million and “CBS Evening News” (5.263 million) by 3.320 million.
“World News Tonight” is ranking No. 1 in Adults 25-54 and Adults 18-49 for the 3rd season in a row. “World News Tonight” is surpassing NBC in both Adults 25-54 (+254,000 – 1.591 million vs. 1.337 million) and Adults 18-49 (+140,000 – 1.087 million vs. 947,000).
For the week, “World News Tonight” (8.907 million, 1.667 million and 1.147 million, respectively) beat “CBS Evening News” (2.251 million, 844,000 and 626,000, respectively) by 3.656 Total Viewers, by 523,000 Adults 25-54 and by 521,000 Adults 18-49.
ABC’s “World News Tonight with David Muir” airs 6:30-7:00 p.m. EDT on ABC. Almin Karamehmedovic is the senior executive producer of the broadcast.
