‘World News Tonight’ Leads NBC by 1.3 Million and CBS by 2.8 Million Viewers On Monday, More Than 7.8 Million Viewers Watched ‘World News Tonight’ as David Muir Anchored From Buffalo

 

‘World News Tonight’ Is Ranking #1 in Total Viewers for the 6th Consecutive Season and in Both Adults 25-54 and Adults 18-49 for the 3rd Season in a Row

World News Tonight with David Muirstood as the No. 1 program of the week for the 6th straight week in Total Viewers (7.372 million) on all of television during the week of May 16, 2022, based on Live + Same Day Data from Nielsen Media Research.

 

“World News Tonight” is the evening’s No. 1 newscast in all of broadcast and cable in Total Viewers (7.372 million), Adults 25-54 (1.322 million) and Adults 18-49 (907,000), leading “NBC Nightly News” (6.075 million, 980,000 and 687,000, respectively) by 1.297 million Total Viewers, by 342,000 Adults 25-54 and by 220,000 Adults 18-49.

 

“World News Tonight” has won the last 181 of 182 weeks in Total Viewers and 110 of the last 112 weeks in Adults 25-54.

 

On Monday, May 16, with David Muir anchoring from Buffalo on the deadly mass shooting, “World News Tonight” averaged 7.844 million Total Viewers.

 

“World News Tonight” grew its lead over NBC from the previous week in Adults 25-54 (+42% – 342,000 vs. 241,000) and Adults 18-49 (+67% – 220,000 vs. 132,000).

 

“World News Tonight” increased its margins over NBC year to year in Adults 25-54 (+31% – 342,000 vs. 262,000) and Adults 18-49 (+26% – 220,000 vs. 174,000).

 

“World News Tonight” improved on the previous week in Adults 25-54 (+6%/+73,000 – 1.322 million vs. 1.249 million) and Adults 18-49 (+7%/+60,000 – 907,000 vs. 847,000),  

 

Season to date, “World News Tonight” (8.423 million) is ranking No. 1 in Total Viewers for the 6th consecutive year, based on Most Current Data. “World News Tonight” is leading “NBC Nightly News” (7.144 million) by 1.279 million and “CBS Evening News” (5.126 million) by 3.297 million.

 

“World News Tonight” is ranking No. 1 in Adults 25-54 and Adults 18-49 for the 3rd season in a row. “World News Tonight” is surpassing NBC in both Adults 25-54 (+265,000 – 1.542 million vs. 1.277 million) and Adults 18-49 (+152,000 – 1.053 million vs. 901,000).

 

For the week, “World News Tonight” (7.372 million, 1.322 million and 907,000, respectively) beat “CBS Evening News” (4.489 million, 756,000 and 509,000, respectively) by 2.883 Total Viewers, by 566,000 Adults 25-54 and by 398,000 Adults 18-49.

 

ABC’s “World News Tonight with David Muir” airs 6:30-7:00 p.m. EDT on ABC. Almin Karamehmedovic is the senior executive producer of the broadcast.
