Candace Fields

A Ph.D. candidate at Florida International University, Candace Fields developed a keen interest in marine science during her childhood in the Bahamas, and since then, has become a passionate advocate for shark conservation. With a focus on oceanic whitetip sharks, Fields’ research centers on the population structure and dynamics of large predators. And—with the goal of aiding in their recovery—uses a combination of genetics and tracking to reveal more about these critically endangered species.
