Iron Ocean’s diverse development slate includes TV, film, documentary series, reality show and podcast projects. In 2021 Biel and Purple were included in Variety’s prestigious TV Producers Impact Report, and the company’s two-year first-look deal with Paramount Television Studios was recently upped to three years. Most recently, Iron Ocean and Hulu released the true-crime limited series “Candy,” which starred Biel as ax murderer Candy Montgomery and Melanie Lynskey as victim Betty Gore. Biel received critical acclaim for her standout performance receiving a 2022 Hollywood Critics Association TV Award nomination for the role. Utilizing a unique release strategy, the series held a five-day event with a new episode appearing on the platform each day. “Candy” went on to have the best debut by any Hulu title since the most recent season of “The Handmaid’s Tale” hit the platform in May 2021. The International Press Academy went on to nominate Biel and Lynskey for their performances, in addition to Lynskey securing a Critics Choice Award nomination. “Cruel Summer,” which returns for its highly anticipated second season, marked the highest-ever debut for a Freeform network series. Season one stars Olivia Holt and Chiara Aurelia received HCA nominations for their performances, and Aurelia also received a Critics’ Choice Award nomination for Best Actress in a Drama Series. In 2022, Iron Ocean expanded into podcasting with “The Lost Olympians.” Produced with ATTN:, the limited documentary series will premiere exclusively on Audible and highlights “lost” Olympics stories, including that of Lesley Cairns, a swimmer whose chance to compete was lost by Apartheid’s political forces in 1970s South Africa. Previous projects include “The Sinner,” which aired on USA Network and received Emmy, Golden Globe® and Critic’s Choice Award nominations for Biel’s performance in season one as well as nominations for Biel and Purple as series executive producers. Iron Ocean also produced the drama series “Limetown,” which starred Biel and Stanley Tucci. The show premiered in 2019 on Facebook Watch to over 10 million viewers in the first 72 hours.
