Mike Himelstein

Emmy® and Annie Award-nominated Mike Himelstein is a songwriter for Disney Junior’s animated comedy “The Chicken Squad.” Together with Alex Geringas, who also serves as a songwriter on the series, the duo writes all of the original songs, including the theme song and the recurring “Chicken Charge” song.

Throughout his almost 25 year career, Himelstein has written songs for some of the most popular preschool series of all time, including the global hit series “Mickey Mouse Clubhouse,” for which he served as music director and songwriter/composer. His additional television animation credits include Disney Junior’s “Special Agent Oso,” “Sheriff Callie’s Wild West” and “Minnie’s Bow-Toons,” as well “Sid the Science Kid,” “Dinosaur Train,” “Home: Adventures with Tip & Oh,” “Word Party” and “Splash and Bubbles.” Himelstein received an Emmy Award nomination for Outstanding Original Song for a song that he wrote for Discovery Channel’s “Toddworld.”

His feature film credits include the Academy Award®-winning “Shrek” and “Blades of Glory.” His television credits include “Saturday Night Live,” “The Tonight Show,” “The Sopranos” and “Queer Eye for the Straight Guy.”

Himelstein has written over 100 songs for the Walt Disney Records catalog, including tracks for “102 Dalmatians,” “Winnie the Pooh Sing Along” and “Winnie The Pooh: Take My Hand.” He co-wrote the theme song “Magic Everywhere” for Disneyland Paris and “When Your Heart Makes a Wish” for Tokyo Disneyland. Over 200 of his songs have been recorded by popular artists, including The Temptations, Al Jarreau, The Stray Cats, The Jets, Julie Andrews, Mandy Moore, Baha Men and Dick Van Dyke.

Outside of his work in creating music for film and television, Himelstein is the lead singer and founder of The Rumble Bees. Raised in Phoenix, Arizona, he currently resides in Los Angeles.
