Matt Braly

Creator / Executive Prducer: Amphibia

Annie Award-winner Matt Braly is creator and executive producer of Disney Channel’s animated comedy series “Amphibia.”

As a child, Braly spent summers visiting his mother’s family in Bangkok, Thailand, where he initially felt like a “fish out of water” learning to adapt in unfamiliar surroundings. This experience inspired him to create the story of 13-year-old Anne Boonchuy who is magically transported to a fantastical world of frog people. The character of Anne is loosely based on Braly’s grandmother.

A graduate of California Institute of the Arts (CalArts) with a major in character animation, Braly first interned at Pixar before landing a job at DreamWorks Animation as a story artist. He later joined Disney Television Animation in 2011 where he worked as a storyboard artist and then director on the Emmy® Award-winning series “Gravity Falls,” for which he won an Annie Award. His additional television credits include Disney Channel’s “DuckTales” and “Big City Greens,” and “Steven Universe.”

Born in Sacramento and raised in Davis, California, Braly enjoys reading sci-fi books and playing video games. He currently resides in Los Angeles, California, with his wife Katie and their cat, Domino.
