Kwame Alexander is the creator, executive producer, and showrunner of “The Crossover,” from Disney Branded Television, based on his best-selling, Newbery medal-winning middle-grade novel of the same name.

Kwame Alexander is a poet, educator, producer, and #1 New York Times bestselling author of 37 books, including “The Door of No Return”; “Becoming Muhammad Ali,” co-authored with James Patterson; The Caldecott Medal and Newbery Honor-winning picture book “The Undefeated,” illustrated by Kadir Nelson; and the NEWBERY Medal-winning middle-grade novel “The Crossover.”

A regular contributor to NPR’s “Morning Edition,” Alexander is the host and co-creator of “America’s Next Great Author.” In 2018, he opened the Barbara E. Alexander Memorial Library and Health Clinic in Ghana, and 2023 will see the release of his memoir, “Why Fathers Cry at Night.”
