ABC NEWS ANNOUNCES SPECIAL NETWORK-WIDE COVERAGE CELEBRATING PRIDE MONTH
Special Programming Kicked Off Sunday, June 1, Highlighting Voices, Stories and Issues From the LGBTQ+ Community

ABC News announces special monthlong, network-wide coverage to honor and celebrate Pride Month. Starting Sunday, June 1, ABC News is showcasing in-depth reporting, powerful interviews, and original features that spotlight LGBTQ+ trailblazers, stories and issues important to the community.
Special coverage includes the following:
“Good Morning America” and “GMA3” is bringing back “GMA Out Loud!,” a special series about the LGBTQ+ community and its history, resilience and joy. It begins with “Celebrating 10 Years of Marriage Equality,” a heartfelt tribute to the landmark Obergefell v. Hodges ruling. Later, “GMA” welcomes beloved queer icon George Takei for a live interview, reflecting on the community’s progress and ongoing challenges. Correspondent Becky Worley takes a closer look at “guncles” (aka gay uncles), who are joyfully redefining family roles with warmth, humor and love. And the month wraps up with a spotlight on pride events across the country, amplifying the voices of those standing proud in the face of growing social and political resistance.
“The View” is highlighting the impact and legacy of notable LGBTQ+ voices, including recording artist Johnny Mathis, trans activist Cecilia Chung, and Sally Ride, the first American woman to fly in space and first openly gay astronaut. “The View” will also continue to welcome queer voices and stories at the table, including Andy Cohen, Andrew Rannells, Colman Domingo, Mario Cantone and Bob the Drag Queen.
“Tamron Hall” is celebrating the LGBTQ+ community with powerful conversations, including a visit from Pulitzer Prize winning journalist Jonathan Capehart, who will share insights from his new memoir about identity and discovering one’s voice.
“Nightline” is featuring LGBTQ+ voices and stories, including Olympic gold-medalist diver Tom Daley and the stars of Hulu’s “Mid-Century Modern,” Nathan Lane, Matt Bomer and Nathan Lee Graham. The late-night news program will also feature interviews with actors Andrew Rannells and Nick Kroll for their film, “I Don’t Understand You,” and singer Gloria Gaynor, whose hit “I Will Survive” became an enduring LGBTQ+ anthem.
ABC News Live, the network’s 24/7 streaming news channel, is covering World Pride, which takes place this year in Washington, D.C. on Thursday, June 5, will simulcast the New York City and San Francisco pride marches on Sunday, June 29 beginning at 12 p.m. EDT and the Los Angeles pride march on Sunday, June 8 at 2 p.m. EDT in conjunction with our ABC Owned Television Stations WABC, KGO and KABC, respectively. In addition, ABC News Live will have interviews with LGBTQ+ changemakers including Jonathan Van Ness, Randy Rainbow, Jeff Hiller, Frankie Grande, and more.
ABC News Studios is featuring “Late to the Party: Coming Out Later in Life,” a one-hour special that shines a light on members of the LGBTQ+ community who “came out” as older adults. The primetime special will air on ABC on Friday, June 6, at 8 p.m. EDT and will stream on Hulu the next day.
ABC Owned Television Stations is broadcasting the largest official Pride parades and festivities happening in all eight markets, covering some of the biggest celebrations in the country – New York, San Francisco, Los Angeles, and Chicago. Programming highlights include special guest interviews, inspiring stories, and engaging conversations with influential LGBTQ+ leaders. Viewers can watch the simulcasts across the ABC Owned Television Stations’ streaming and digital platforms, as well as on Hulu and ABC News Live.
ABC News Digital is featuring a series of stories examining issues facing the LGBTQ+ community, such as the battle over transgender athletes and how the World Pride Festival in Washington, D.C., which draws millions, may be impacted by the current political climate.
“World News Tonight with David Muir,” “This Week with George Stephanopoulos, ABC Audio and ABC NewsOne is also spotlighting stories covering the LGBTQ+ community.
