ABC News’ ‘Nightline’ Ranks No. 1 in Total Viewers, up Week-to-Week in Adults 18–49

Season to Date, ‘Nightline’ Sees Gains Year-to-Year, Posting Its Largest Overall Audience in 3 Years

ABC News’ “Nightline” ranked No. 1 in Total Viewers (773,000) for the week of April 8, 2024, based on Live + Same Day Data from Nielsen Media Research.

“Nightline” was up week to week in Adults 18-49 (+7% – 111,000 vs. 101,000).

Season to date, “Nightline” is growing versus the comparable weeks last season in Total Viewers (916,000 vs. 913,000), posting its largest overall audience in 3 years — since the 2020-2021 season.

This week “Nightline” covered Donald Trump’s first day in criminal court; former juvenile detainees seeking justice over alleged sex abuse; the “Rust” movie armorer’s 18-month sentencing; Israel retaliating against Iran according to a senior U.S. official; University of Iowa’s Caitlin Clark being the number one WNBA draft pick; Arizona abortion providers’ fear for patients’ future after court ruling; “Impact x Nightline”’s latest episode about the illicit world of luxury counterfeits and more. 

NOTE: On Friday (4/19/24), CBS’ “After Midnight” was retitled to “After Midnight-ENC.” The retitled telecasts are excluded from CBS’ weekly and season averages. For the week, NBC’s “Seth Meyers” was retitled to “Seth Meyers-SM” due to being repeats and excluded from NBC’s season averages. CBS’ weekly averages are based on four days (Monday-Thursday).

ABC News’ “Nightline” is late-night television’s prestigious, award-winning news program featuring the most powerful, in-depth stories that shape our lives and the world around us. It is anchored by Juju Chang and Byron Pitts. Eman Varoqua is executive producer. The program airs weeknights from 12:35-1:05 a.m. EDT on ABC. “Nightline” has also produced numerous original documentaries available on ABC News digital platforms and Hulu.
