ABC News’ ‘Nightline’ Ranks No. 1 in Total Viewers

‘Nightline’ Improves Week to Week in All Key Demos, Drawing Largest Overall Audience in 5 Weeks

ABC News’ “Nightline” ranked No. 1 in Total Viewers (870,000) for the week of Feb. 19, 2024, based on Live + Same Day Data from Nielsen Media Research, leading CBS’ “After Midnight” and NBC’s “Late Night with Seth Meyers” for the 2nd straight week

“Nightline” turned in gains week to week in Total Viewers (+8% – 870,000 vs. 808,000), Adults 25-54 (+3% – 169,000 vs. 164,000) and Adults 18-49 (+10% – 99,000 vs. 90,000), drawing its largest overall audience in 5 weeks — since w/o 1/15/24.

“Nightline” improved year to year in Total Viewers (+2% – 870,000 vs. 849,000) for the 2nd week in a row.

Season to date, “Nightline” is growing versus the comparable weeks last season in Total Viewers (+3% – 939,000 vs. 912,000), posting its largest overall audience in 3 years — since the 2020-2021 season.

This week, “Nightline” covered the stories of women and doctors caught in the middle of a post-Roe America; ABC News correspondent Bob Woodruff’s Arctic expedition; “momfluencer” Ruby Franke’s sentencing in a child abuse case; Kelly Rowland’s latest role in Tyler Perry’s new thriller, “Mea Culpa”; Wendy Williams’ niece speaking out about her aunt’s health struggles; the rise in phone call scams; the Oscar®-nominated short “Nai Nai & Wài Pó”; “Impact x Nightline”’s latest episode about Scott Peterson and the Los Angeles Innocence Project’s bombshell legal filing and more.

NOTE: On Monday (2/19/24), “Nightline” was coded as a special due to the Presidents Day holiday. For the week, NBC’s “Late Night with Seth Meyers” was retitled to “Late Night with Seth Meyers-SM” and CBS’ “After Midnight” was retitled to “After Midnight-ENC” due to being repeats. The specialed and retitled telecasts are excluded from the season averages. ABC’s weekly averages are based on four days (Monday-Thursday).
