Diane Macedo is currently the daytime anchor for ABC News Live, ABC News’ 24/7 streaming news channel, anchoring “ABC News Live Update,” “The Breakdown” and breaking news and special events. She is also a breaking news anchor and correspondent for ABC News, appearing on “Good Morning America,” “World News Tonight,” “Nightline,” “World News Now” and “America This Morning. Macedo is the author of a new book, “The Sleep Fix,” helping people identify and overcome their sleep problems. The book goes on sale on Dec. 14, 2021.

As anchor of ABC News Live, Macedo has covered breaking news stories such as Hurricane Laura and Tiger Woods’ car crash; historic political events including the 2020 Presidential Election, the Supreme Court confirmations of Amy Coney Barrett and Brett Kavanaugh and the second impeachment trial of President Trump; and gavel-to-gavel coverage of the Derek Chauvin Trial. She also anchored the daily ABC News Live broadcast “Pandemic,” which went on to become the network broadcast “GMA 3: What You Need to Know.”

Macedo has also anchored various network breaking news events for ABC News, including the April 2021 car attack at the Capitol, 2020 election coverage, the Las Vegas mass shooting, the Pulse Night Club shooting, Hurricane Irma, the 2016 Presidential election, and the withdrawal of the United Kingdom from the European Union. Macedo has received two Emmy awards for her work on “Good Morning America.”

Prior to her role with ABC News Live, Macedo was part of the longest-running anchor team for ABC News’ “World News Now” and “America This Morning,” from April 2016 – November 2018, a period where the show experienced a significant ratings boost and massive increase in social media following.

Before joining ABC News in 2016, Macedo was an anchor for CBS New York, anchoring “CBS 2 News This Morning Saturday,” “CBS 2 News This Morning Sunday” and fill-in anchoring for the weekday shows “CBS 2 News This Morning,” “CBS 2 News at Noon,” “CBS 2 News at 5 PM,” and more. She was also a general assignment reporter covering assigned, original and breaking news.

Macedo graduated from Boston College with a double major in communications and political science and can speak Portuguese and Spanish. She currently lives in New York City with her family.
