ABC News’ “Nightline” averaged 788,000 Total Viewers, 211,000 Adults 25-54 and 149,000 Adults 18-49 for the week of Dec. 6, 2021, based on Live + Same Day Data from Nielsen Media Research. “Nightline” led CBS’ “The Late Late Show with James Corden” in Adults 25-54. 

 

“Nightline” posted increases from the previous week in all key target demos: Total Viewers (+10% – 788,000 vs. 714,000), Adults 25-54 (+15% – 211,000 vs. 184,000) and Adults 18-49 (+12% – 149,000 vs. 133,000).

 

Season to date, “Nightline” (252,000 and 178,000, respectively) is beating CBS’ “The Late Late Show with James Corden” (229,000 and 165,000, respectively) in Adults 25-54 and Adults 18-49 for the seventh consecutive year — since the 2015-2016 season.

Last week “Nightline” featured stories on the Watts Rams, the football team bridging the divide between LA cops and the community through football; the Michigan high school shooting; the Pensacola terror attack, where a Saudi Arabian pilot opened fire at the Pensacola Naval Base, killing three and injuring eight; the latest on the Ukraine threat of Russian invasion; the rise in smash-and-grab robberies in Los Angeles; and the new National Geographic docuseries “Welcome to Earth.”

NOTE: NBC’s “Late Night with Seth Meyers” was retitled to “Seth Meyers-SM” on Friday (12/10/21) due to being a repeat. The retitled telecast is not included in the weekly and season averages. NBC’s averages are based on four days (Monday-Thursday).

ABC News’ “Nightline” is late-night television‘s prestigious, award-winning news program featuring the most powerful, in-depth stories that shape our lives and the world around us. It is anchored by Juju Chang and Byron Pitts. Eman Varoqua is executive producer. The program airs weeknights from 12:35-1:05 a.m. EST on ABC. “Nightline” has also produced numerous original documentaries available on ABC News digital platforms and Hulu.
