ABC News Secures 29 Nominations – the Most for Any Broadcast Network — Including Four Nods for the Overall Network, ‘World News Tonight with David Muir’ Receives Five Total Nods, With Its Fourth Consecutive Nomination for Outstanding Live News Program, and ‘Good Morning America’ Receives Most Nominations Since 2011 Including Outstanding Live News Program
Hulu Secures Nine Nominations Across Eight Titles Including ABC News Studios’ ‘Sins of the Parents’ and FX on Hulu’s ‘The New York Times Presents: Lie to Fly’
Collectively, The Walt Disney Company has earned a record-breaking 81 News & Documentary Emmy® Award nominations across content brands and studios ABC News, Disney Branded Television, Disney+, ESPN, FX, Hulu and National Geographic.
National Geographic set its own record, earning the most nominations ever for the brand with 46 nods, including its most-nominated series, “Trafficked: Underworlds with Mariana van Zeller” with a record 29 nominations. After winning Outstanding Lighting Direction – News last year, the series swept the entire category this year.
ABC News received four nominations for the overall network – the most of any broadcast network – including for election night coverage and continuing coverage of the conflict in Syria. After winning the past two years in the top category – Outstanding Live News Program – ABC News “World News Tonight with David Muir” scores its fourth nomination in a row in this category. The evening news program received five nominations total, including for Outstanding Breaking News Coverage and The Last Heroes of Normandy. ABC News Live received seven nominations, including for coverage of the human stories behind climate change and underreported, massive migration. “Good Morning America” received the most nominations since 2011, including a nomination in Outstanding Live News Program and Outstanding Live Interview – Long Form for George Stephanopoulos’ consequential one-on-one with then-President Joe Biden.
