‘Nightline’ Is No. 1 in Total Viewers for the 3rd Straight Week

‘Nightline’ Posts Double-Digit Gains on the Same Week Last Year in Total Viewers and Adults 18-49

Season to Date, ‘Nightline’ Is Beating CBS in Adults 25-54 and Adults 18-49 for the 7th Consecutive Year

ABC News’ “Nightline” ranked No. 1 Total Viewers for the 3rd straight week during the week of July 25, 2022, based on Live + Same Day Data from Nielsen Media Research.

“Nightline” also beat CBS in Adults 25-54 and Adults 18-49.

“Nightline” posted gains on the same week last year in Total Viewers (+15% – 710,000 vs. 616,000) and Adults 18-49 (+20% – 133,000 vs. 111,000).

Season to date, “Nightline” is beating CBS’ “The Late Late Show with James Corden” in Adults 25-54 and Adults 18-49 for the 7th consecutive year — since the 2015-2016 season.

This week, “Nightline” covered the passing of “Good Fellas” actor Paul Sorvino; fears of increased shark sightings; a powerful roundtable discussion where Black women talked mental health and healing; the Pope’s apology to Indigenous communities; Anna Delvey’s “second act”; a college basketball star becoming one of the highest paid female athletes in collegiate sport history; a Highland Park mom’s take on the gun lobby; a genre-bending dance style called “hiplet,” a mix of hip-hop and ballet; dramatic increases in the price of rent; Selena Quintanilla’s family’s announcement about the release of new music; and Real Housewives star Erika Jayne’s new legal drama.

  

NOTE: For the week, CBS’ “The Late Late Show with James Corden” was retitled to “Late Late Show-JC—ENC” due to being repeats.  The telecasts are excluded from the season averages.  From Wednesday through Friday, NBC’s “Late Night with Seth Meyers” was retitled to “Seth Meyers-SM.” The retitled telecasts are excluded from the weekly and season averages.  NBC’s averages are based on two days (Monday-Tuesday).
