“World News Tonight with David Muir” stood as the No. 1 evening newscast in all of broadcast and cable in Total Viewers (7.909 million), Adults 25-54 (1.363 million) and Adults 18-49 (896,000) for the week of Oct. 11, 2021, based on Live + Same Day Data from Nielsen Media Research.  “World News Tonight” beat “NBC Nightly News” (6.608 million, 1.188 million and 837,000, respectively) by 1.301 million Total Viewers, by 175,000 Adults 25-54 and by 59,000 Adults 18-49.

“World News Tonight” has won the last 151 weeks in Total Viewers and 79 of the last 81 weeks in Adults 25-54 and Adults 18-49.


“World News Tonight” ranked as the No. 2 program of the week in Total Viewers (7.909 million) on all of television (excluding sports and syndication).

“World News Tonight” posted week-to-week increases in Total Viewers (+1%/+86,000 – 7.909 million vs. 7.823 million) and Adults 25-54 (+1%/+7,000 – 1.393 million vs. 1.356 million).

“World News Tonight” increased its lead from the previous week with NBC in Total Viewers (+9% – 1.301 million vs. 1.198 million) and Adults 25-54 (+9% – 175,000 vs. 161,000).


“World News Tonight” widened its Total Viewer margin with NBC on the same week last year by 10% (1.301 million vs. 1.185 million).

“World News Tonight” is ranking No. 1 in Adults 25-54 and Adults 18-49 for the 3rd season in a row. “World News Tonight” is beating NBC in both Adults 25-54 (+217,000 – 1.445 million vs. 1.228 million) and Adults 18-49 (+97,000 – 973,000 vs. 876,000), leading by its largest margin in Adults 25-54 in 26 years — since the 1995-1996 season.

For the week, “World News Tonight” (7.909 million, 1.363 million and 896,000, respectively) defeated “CBS Evening News” (4.938 million, 902,000 and 634,000, respectively) by 2.971 million Total Viewers, by 461,000 Adults 25-54 and by 262,000 Adults 18-49.
