“World News Tonight with David Muir” ranked as the No. 1 evening newscast in all of broadcast and cable in Total Viewers (7.882 million), Adults 25-54 (1.358 million) and Adults 18-49 (916,000) for the week of Oct. 18, 2021, based on Live + Same Day Data from Nielsen Media Research.  “World News Tonight” outperformed “NBC Nightly News” (6.722 million, 1.174 million and 790,000, respectively) by 1.160 million Total Viewers, by 184,000 Adults 25-54 and by 126,000 Adults 18-49.

“World News Tonight” has won the last 152 weeks in Total Viewers and 80 of the last 82 weeks in Adults 25-54 and Adults 18-49.

“World News Tonight” ranked as the No. 2 program of the week in Total Viewers (7.882 million) on all of television (excluding sports and syndication). 

“World News Tonight” increased its week-to-week margins with NBC in Adults 25-54 (+5% – 184,000 vs. 175,000) and Adults 18-49 (+114%– 126,000 vs. 59.000).

Season to date, “World News Tonight” (7.981 million) is ranking No. 1 in Total Viewers for the 6th consecutive year, based onMost Current DataIn fact, “World News Tonight” is increasing its lead over “NBC Nightly News” (6.695 million) from the same point last season (+1% – 1.286 million vs. 1.277 million) to its largest season lead in 27 years – since the 1994-1995 season. “World News Tonight” is beating “CBS Evening News” (4.859 million) by 3.122 million.

“World News Tonight” is ranking No. 1 in Adults 25-54 and Adults 18-49 for the 3rd season in a row. “World News Tonight” is beating NBC in both Adults 25-54 (+211,000 – 1.434 million vs. 1.223 million) and Adults 18-49 (+102,000 – 965,000 vs. 863,000), leading by its largest margin in Adults 25-54 in 26 years — since the 1995-1996 season.

For the week, “World News Tonight” (7.882 million, 1.358 million and 916,000, respectively) defeated “CBS Evening News” (4.868 million, 894,000 and 609,000, respectively) by 3.014 million Total Viewers, by 464,000 Adults 25-54 and by 307,000 Adults 18-49.

ABC’s “World News Tonight with David Muir” airs 6:30-7:00 p.m. EDT on ABC. Almin Karamehmedovic is the executive producer of the broadcast.
