’ “World News Tonight with David Muir” ranked as the No. 1 program on all broadcast and cable television in the U.S. in Total Viewers (10.169 million) for the week of Feb. 15, 2021, based on Live + Same Day Data from Nielsen Media Research. In fact, the ABC evening newscast landed the top 4 telecasts on all television for the week with Monday (10.764 million – No. 1), Tuesday (10.453 million – No. 2), Thursday (10.298 – No. 3) and Wednesday (9.993 million – No. 4).

 

In addition, the Monday airing (2/15/21) of “World News Tonight” stood as its most-watched telecast in nearly 10 months – since 4/29/20.

 

“World News Tonight” stood as the No. 1 evening newscast in Total Viewers (10.169 million), Adults 25-54 (2.039 million) and Adults 18-49 (1.453 million). “World News Tonight” outdelivered “NBC Nightly News” (8.332 million, 1.643 million and 1.151 million, respectively) by 1.837 million Total Viewers, by 396,000 Adults 25-54 and by 302,000 Adults 18-49.

 

“World News Tonight” increased its lead with NBC from the previous week in Total Viewers (+18% – 1.837 million vs. 1.555 million), Adults 25-54 (+38% – 396,000 vs. 286,000) and Adults 18-49 (+69% – 302,000 vs. 179,000). The ABC evening newscast turned in its largest news demo lead over NBC in 10 months – since w/o 4/13/20.

 

“World News Tonight” widened its margins with NBC year to year in Total Viewers (+48% – 1.837 million vs. 1.240 million), Adults 25-54 (+92% – 396,000 vs. 206,000) and Adults 18-49 (+264% – 302,000 vs. 83,000).

 

“World News Tonight” ranked as the evening’s No. 1 newscast for the last 47 weeks in Total Viewers, Adults 25-54 and Adults 18-49. In addition, “World News Tonight” has won the last 117 weeks overall in Total Viewers.

 

“World News Tonight” posted week-to-week increases across the board: Total Viewers (+640,000/+7% – 10.169 million vs. 9.529 million), Adults 25-54 (+155,000/+8% – 2.039 million vs. 1.884 million) and Adults 18-49 (+166,000/+13% – 1.453 million vs. 1.287 million). “World News Tonight” drew its 2nd-largest overall audience in over 9 months– w/o 5/4/20.

 

“World News Tonight” saw double-digit gains on the same week last year in Total Viewers (+1.141 million/+13% – 10.169 million vs. 9.028 million), Adults 25-54 (+231,000/+13% – 2.039 million vs. 1.808 million) and Adults 18-49 (+277,000/+24% – 1.453 million vs. 1.176 million).

 

“World News Tonight” had 12.6 million video views across Facebook, Twitter and Instagram for the week.

 

Season to date, “World News Tonight” (9.671 million) is ranking No. 1 in Total Viewers for the 5th consecutive season, based onMost Current Data. In fact, the ABC evening newscast is substantially increasing its lead over “NBC Nightly News” (8.119 million) from the same point last season (+77% – 1.552 million vs. 875,000) to its largest season lead in 26 years—since the 1994-1995 season. “World News Tonight” is beating “CBS Evening News” (5.955 million) by 3.716 million, posting its biggest Total Viewer season advantage in at least 29 years (since at least the start of Nielsen electronic database in the 1991-1992 season).

 

After winning the 2019-2020 season, “World News Tonight” is ranking No. 1 in Adults 25-54 and Adults 18-49 for the 2nd season in a row. “World News Tonight” is leading NBC by its largest news demo margin (+267,000 – 1.909 million vs. 1.642 million) in 25 years—since the 1995-1996 season. “World News Tonight” is beating NBC in Adults 18-49 (+200,000 – 1.350 million vs. 1.150 million) for the first time at this point of a season in 25 years with its largest lead in 26 years—since the 1995-1996 and the 1994-1995 seasons, respectively.

 

“World News Tonight” also leads “CBS Evening News” by its biggest advantage in 18 years in Adults 25-54 (+790,000 – 1.909 million vs. 1.119 million) and in Adults 18-49 (+543,000 – 1.350 million vs. 807,000) – since the 2002-2003 season.

 

In addition, World News Tonight” is improving in Total Viewers (+808,000/+9% – 9.671 million vs. 8.863 million), Adults 25-54 (+175,000/+10% – 1.909 million vs. 1.734 million) and Adults 18-49 (+176,000/+15% – 1.350 million vs. 1.174 million) compared to the same point last season. In fact, “World News Tonight” isseeing its most-watched season in 17 years and strongest Adults 25-54 performance in 3 years—since the 2003-2004 and the 2017-2018 seasons, respectively.

 

For the week, “World NewsTonight” (10.169 million, 2.039 million and 1.453 million, respectively) defeated “CBS Evening News” (6.393 million, 1.169 million and 840,000, respectively) by 3.776 million Total Viewers, by 870,000 Adults 25-54 and by 613,000 Adults 18-49.
