‘NIGHTLINE’ RANKS NO. 1 IN TOTAL VIEWERS, ADULTS 25-54 AND ADULTS 18-49

FOR WEEK OF MARCH 29

 

‘Nightline’ Delivers Week-to-Week Increases in All Key Target Demos

 

‘Nightline’ Posts 6-Week High in Total Viewers and Adults 18-49 and 5-Week Best in

Adults 25-54

 

ABC News’ “Nightline” ranked No. 1 in Total Viewers (919,000), Adults 25-54 (270,000) and Adults 18-49 (203,000) during the week of March 29, 2021, based on Live + Same Day Data from Nielsen Media Research. “Nightline” beat CBS’ “The Late Late Show with James Corden” (657,000, 169,000 and 123,000, respectively) in Total Viewers (+262,000), Adults 25-54 (+101,000) and Adults 18-49 (+80,000).

 

In addition, “Nightline” outpaced NBC’s “Late Night with Seth Meyers” (728,000, 241,000 and 201,000, respectively) in Total Viewers (+191,000), Adults 25-54 (+29,000) and Adults 18-49 (+2,000).

 

“Nightline” posted gains week to week in all key target demos: Total Viewers (+10% – 919,000 vs. 839,000), Adults 25-54 (+5% – 270,000 vs. 256,000) and Adults 18-49 (+12% – 203,000 vs. 181,000).  “Nightline” hit a 6-week high in Total Viewers and Adults 18-49 and a 5-week best in Adults 25-54—since weeks of 2/15/21 and 2/22/15, respectively.

 

Season to date, “Nightline” (300,000 and 207,000, respectively) is beating CBS’ “The Late Late Show with James Corden” (245,000 and 171,000, respectively) in Adults 25-54 (+55,000) and Adults 18-49 (+36,000) for the 6th straight year—since the 2015-2016 season.

 

Last week “Nightline” featured stories on religious leaders in communities of color stepping up to help get people vaccinated, Ben Crump’s fight for racial justice amidst the trial of George Floyd’s accused killer, the backlash facing Lil Nas X and his new music video and the multiple deadly tornadoes that ripped through the southeastern U.S.

 

NOTE: Due to Good Friday (4/2/21), “Nightline” was retitled to “NL.” The retitled telecast is not included in the weekly or season averages. In addition, CBS’ “The Late Late Show” was retitled to “Late Late Show-JC-ENC” and NBC’s “Late Night with Seth Meyers” was retitled to “Seth Meyers-SM” during the week due to being repeats. The retitled telecasts will not be included in the season averages.
