‘Nightline’ Ranks No. 1 in Total Viewers, Adults 25–54 and Adults 18–49 for 3rd Consecutive Week

‘Nightline’ Delivers Its Strongest Telecast in 9 Months on Tuesday, July 20, in Adults 18-49

Season to Date, ‘Nightline’ Is Beating CBS’ ‘The Late Late Show with James Corden’ in Adults 25-54 and Adults 18-49 for 6th Straight Year

ABC News’ “Nightline” ranked No. 1 in Total Viewers (763,000), Adults 25-54 (239,000) and Adults 18-49 (179,000) for the 3rd straight week during the week of July 19, 2021, based on Live + Same Day Data from Nielsen Media Research. “Nightline” beat CBS’ “The Late Late Show with James Corden” (684,000, 183,000 and 126,000, respectively) in Total Viewers (+79,000), Adults 25-54 (+56,000) and Adults 18-49 (+53,000).

 

In addition, “Nightline” beat NBC’s “Late Night with Seth Meyers” (635,000, 196,000 and 144,000, respectively) in Total Viewers (+128,000), Adults 25-54 (+43,000) and Adults 18-49 (+35,000).

 

On Tuesday (7/20/21), “Nightline” turned in its strongest telecast in Adults 18-49 (324,000) in 9 months – since 10/7/20.

 

Season to date, “Nightline” (287,000 and 202,000, respectively) is beating CBS’ “The Late Late Show with James Corden” (240,000 and 169,000, respectively) in Adults 25-54 (+33,000) and Adults 18-49 (+47,000) for the 6th straight year—since the 2015-2016 season.

 

Last week “Nightline” featured stories on the lack of diversity across college campuses when it comes to faculty and who gets tenure, the worker shortage in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware, as tourism is picking up, the latest on the COVID-19 Delta variant, entrepreneurs of color who are pushing to get inclusive beauty products on shelves and the historic drought in the western United States.

 

NOTE: Due to the 2020 Olympic opening ceremony on Friday (7/2316), NBC’s “Late Night with Seth Meyers” did not air. In addition, NBC’s “Late Night with Seth Meyers” was retitled to “Seth Meyers-SM.” CBS’ “The Late Late Show with James Corden” was retitled to “Late Late Show-JC-ENC” for the week due to being repeats. The retitled telecasts are not be included in the season averages. NBC’s weekly averages are based on 4 days (Mon-Thurs).
