‘NIGHTLINE’ RANKS NO. 1 IN ALL KEY MEASURES FOR WEEK OF NOV. 16

 

‘Nightline’ Sees Week-to-Week Gains in Adults 25-54 and Adults 18-49,

Hitting 6-Week High in Adults 25-54

 

Season to Date, ‘Nightline’ Leads CBS’ ‘The Late Late Show with James Corden’ and

NBC’s ‘Late Night with Seth Meyers’ in Adults 18-49

 

ABC News’ “Nightline” ranked No. 1 in Total Viewers (945,000), Adults 25-54 (292,000) and Adults 18-49 (200,000) for the week of Nov. 16, 2020, based on Live + Same Day Data from Nielsen Media Research. “Nightline” beat CBS’ “The Late Late Show with James Corden” (881,000, 220,000 and 162,000, respectively) in Total Viewers (+64,000), Adults 25-54 (+72,000) and Adults 18-49 (+38,000).

 

In addition, “Nightline” defeated NBC’s “Late Night with Seth Meyers” (889,000, 263,000 and 191,000, respectively) in Total Viewers (+56,000), Adults 25-54 (+29,000) and Adults 18-49 (+9,000).

 

“Nightline” improved on the previous week (264,000 and 177,000, respectively, for w/o 11/9/20) in Adults 25-54 (+11%) and Adults 18-49 (+13%), hitting a 6-week high in the key Adult news demo—since w/o 10/5/20.

 

Season to date, “Nightline” (224,000) ranks No. 1 in Adults 18-49, leading CBS’ “The Late Late Show with James Corden” (178,000) and NBC’s “Late Night with Seth Meyers” (219,000). In fact, this marks the first time ever that “Nightline” is taking the top spot in Adult 18-49 versus CBS’ “The Late Late Show with James Corden” and NBC’s “Late Night with Seth Meyers.”

 

“Nightline” (985,000 and 317,000, respectively) is beating CBS’ “The Late Late Show with James Corden” (950,000 and 246,000, respectively) by its largest season margins in Adults 25-54 (+71,000) and Adults 18-49 (+46,000) in 5 years—since the 2015-2016 season.

 

In addition, “Nightline” is outperforming NBC’s “Late Night with Seth Meyers” for the first time ever at this point of the season in Adults 18-49 (+5,000 – 224,000 vs. 219,000) since the two programs aired in their current time periods—since the 2014-2015 season.

 

Stories reported on “Nightline” last week included an investigation that found rural towns have emerged as areas that are most affected by COVID-19, unprecedented access inside an Oklahoma hospital quickly getting overwhelmed with COVID-19 patients, an examination of how Filipino-Americans have been crucial to the healthcare system and disproportionately affected by the pandemic and a look at families fighting to feed their children.

 

NOTE: On Friday (11/20/20), CBS’ “The Late Late Show with James Corden” was retitled to “The Late Late Show-JC-ENC” and NBC’s “Late Night with Seth Meyers” was retitled to “Seth Meyers-SM” due to being repeat airings. The telecasts are excluded from the weekly and season averages. CBS’ and NBC’s weekly averages are based on four days (Mon-Thurs).
