‘Nightline’ Grows Week to Week in Adults 18-49


Season to Date, ‘Nightline’ Is Outpacing CBS’ ‘The Late Late Show with James Corden’ in Adults 25-54 and Adults 18-49 for 6th Straight Year

ABC News’ “Nightline” ranked No. 1 in Total Viewers (832,000), Adults 25-54 (242,000) and Adults 18-49 (160,000) for the 4th time in the last 5 weeks during the week of April 26, 2021, based on Live + Same Day Data from Nielsen Media Research. “Nightline” outperformed CBS’ “The Late Late Show with James Corden” (827,000, 219,000 and 153,000, respectively) in Total Viewers (+5,000), Adults 25-54 (+23,000) and Adults 18-49 (+7,000).


In addition, “Nightline” beat NBC’s “Late Night with Seth Meyers” (682,000, 198,000 and 155,000, respectively) in Total Viewers (+150,000), Adults 25-54 (+44,000) and Adults 18-49 (+5,000).


“Nightline” was up week to week in Adults 18-49 (+4% – 160,000 vs. 154,000).


Season to date, “Nightline” (297,000 and 204,000, respectively) is beating CBS’ “The Late Late Show with James Corden” (243,000 and 170,000, respectively) in Adults 25-54 (+54,000) and Adults 18-49 (+34,000) for the 6th straight year—since the 2015-2016 season.


Last week “Nightline” featured stories on a program for veterans to harness their skills in leadership and turn soldiers into elite personal trainers, the women in the NFL who are breaking the mold, TikTok creators who are educating and showing their disabilities with pride, the Cuban-born Grand Duchess of Luxembourg who reveals what life is really like being an outsider marrying into a royal family, the deadly side of Los Angeles’ high-speed car culture, and analysis of President Biden’s first address to Congress.


NOTE: Due to coverage of the NFL on Friday (4/30/21), ABC’s “Nightline” was delayed and retitled to “NL.” In addition, NBC’s “Late Night with Seth Meyers” was retitled to “Seth Meyers-SM” due to being a repeat. The retitled telecasts will not be included in the season averages. ABC’s and NBC’ weekly averages are based on four days (Mon-Thurs).
