‘Nightline’ Is No. 1 in Total Viewers, Adults 25–54 and Adults 18–49 for 2nd Straight Week

Wednesday, July 14, Airing of ‘Nightline’ Posts Its Strongest Telecast in Adults 25-54 in 5 Months

 

Season to Date, ‘Nightline’ Is Beating CBS’ ‘The Late Late Show with James Corden’ in Adults 25-54 and Adults 18-49 for 6th Consecutive Year

ABC News’ “Nightline” ranked No. 1 in Total Viewers (813,000), Adults 25-54 (840,000) and Adults 18-49 (188,000) for the 2nd week in a row during the week of July 12, 2021, based on Live + Same Day Data from Nielsen Media Research. “Nightline” led CBS’ “The Late Late Show with James Corden” (710,000, 176,000 and 115,000, respectively) in Total Viewers (+103,000), Adults 25-54 (+64,000) and Adults 18-49 (+73,000).

 

In addition, “Nightline” beat NBC’s “Late Night with Seth Meyers” (663,000, 206,000 and 167,000, respectively) in Total Viewers (+150,000), Adults 25-54 (+34,000) and Adults 18-49 (+21,000).

 

On Wednesday (7/14/21), “Nightline” delivered its strongest telecast in Adults 25-54 (356,000) in 5 months – since 2/18/21.

 

Season to date, “Nightline” (288,000 and 202,000, respectively) is beating CBS’ “The Late Late Show with James Corden” (240,000 and 169,000, respectively) in Adults 25-54 (+48,000) and Adults 18-49 (+33,000) for the 6th straight year—since the 2015-2016 season.

 

Last week “Nightline” featured interviews with the stars of “POSE” including Dominique Jackson, Billy Porter, Mj Rodriguez, and co-creator and executive producer Steven Canals. Jackson opened up about her past life as a sex worker, her severe agoraphobia which almost prevented her from auditioning for the role as Elektra, and more. The program also featured stories on the battle to teach critical race theory in schools, the three young Black English athletes who faced racism after missing penalty kicks in the European championship final, the latest on the assassination of Haiti’s president and Richard Branson’s Virgin Galactic space launch.

 

NOTE: CBS’ “The Late Late Show with James Corden” was retitled to “Late Late Show-JC-ENC” for the week due to being repeats. In addition, NBC’s “Late Night with Seth Meyers” was retitled to “Seth Meyers-SM” on Friday. The retitled telecasts are not be included in the season averages.  NBC’s averages are based on four days (Monday-Thursday).
