’ “World News Tonight with David Muirranked as the No. 1 program on all broadcast and cable television in the U.S. in Total Viewers (9.451 million) for the week of Feb. 22, 2021, based on Live + Same Day Data from Nielsen Media Research. In fact, the ABC evening newscast held the Top 5 telecasts on all television for the week with Monday (9.995 million – No. 1), Thursday (9.551 million – No. 2), Tuesday (9.451 – No. 3), Wednesday (9.320 million – No. 4) and Friday (8.937 million – No. 5).

 

“World News Tonight” ranked as the evening’ No. 1 newscast in Total Viewers (9.451 million), Adults 25-54 (1.795 million) and Adults 18-49 (1.232 million). “World News Tonight” outdelivered “NBC Nightly News” (7.626 million, 1.432 million and 955,000, respectively) by 1.825 million Total Viewers, by 363,000 Adults 25-54 and by 277,000 Adults 18-49.

 

“World News Tonight” increased its lead with NBC on the same week last year in Total Viewers (+42% – 1.825 million vs. 1.285 million), Adults 25-54 (+154% – 363,000 vs. 143,000) and Adults 18-49 (+516% – 277,000 vs. 45,000).

 

“World News Tonight” ranked as the evening’s No. 1 newscast for the last 48 weeks in Total Viewers, Adults 25-54 and Adults 18-49. In addition, “World News Tonight” has won the last 118 weeks overall in Total Viewers.

 

“World News Tonight” turned in increases on the year-ago week in Total Viewers (+343,000 /+4% – 9.451 million vs. 9.108 million), Adults 25-54 (+18,000/+1% – 1.795 million vs. 1.777 million) and Adults 18-49 (+52,000/+4% – 1.232 million vs. 1.180 million), standing as the only evening news to post gains in any measure.

 

Season to date, “World News Tonight” (9.662 million) is ranking No. 1 in Total Viewers for the 5th consecutive season, based onMost Current Data. In fact, the ABC evening newscast is substantially increasing its lead over “NBC Nightly News” (8.098 million) from the same point last season (+75% – 1.564 million vs. 894,000) to its largest season lead in 26 years—since the 1994-1995 season. “World News Tonight” is beating “CBS Evening News” (5.940 million) by 3.722 million, posting its biggest Total Viewer season advantage in at least 29 years (since at least the start of Nielsen electronic database in the 1991-1992 season).

 

After winning the 2019-2020 season, “World News Tonight” is ranking No. 1 in Adults 25-54 and Adults 18-49 for the 2nd season in a row. “World News Tonight” is leading NBC by its largest news demo margin (+271,000 – 1.903 million vs. 1.632 million) in 25 years—since the 1995-1996 season. “World News Tonight” is beating NBC in Adults 18-49 (+203,000 – 1.344 million vs. 1.141 million) for the first time at this point of a season in 25 years with its largest lead in 26 years—since the 1995-1996 and the 1994-1995 seasons, respectively.

 

“World News Tonight” also leads “CBS Evening News” by its biggest advantage in 18 years in Adults 25-54 (+788,000 – 1.903 million vs. 1.115 million) and in 16 years in Adults 18-49 (+542,000 – 1.344 million vs. 802,000) – since the 2002-2003 and the 2004-2005 seasons, respectively.

 

In addition, World News Tonight” is improving in Total Viewers (+785,000/+9% – 9.662 million vs. 8.877 million), Adults 25-54 (+167,000/+10% – 1.903 million vs. 1.736 million) and Adults 18-49 (+170,000/+14% – 1.344 million vs. 1.174 million) compared to the same point last season. In fact, “World News Tonight” isseeing its most-watched season in 17 years and strongest Adults 25-54 performance in 3 years—since the 2003-2004 and the 2017-2018 seasons, respectively.

 

For the week, “World NewsTonight” (9.451 million, 1.795 million and 1.232 million, respectively) outpaced “CBS Evening News” (5.757 million, 1.066 million and 749,000, respectively) by 3.694 million Total Viewers, by 729,000 Adults 25-54 and by 483,000 Adults 18-49.
